At the time I read this I remember thinking it was one of the best single books I've read, that's single as in one, not three or two, yeah? I tend to find trilogies more involving as they can come to greater depth of a story line and yet this book went into the same dept as many trilogies i've read have. There is an attempted assassination on council members Leia included, it's thought to be an inside job, including a rumoured plot against the New Republic. Han is accused of being involved.

A master of the dark side, determined to be emperor of a new era, targets Leia, Luke and Leia's children for death. 'Billions will follow, in a holocaust unequalled in galactic history.' Scary.
