First you will have to put up with my oppinions and revelations, but then you readers, my passengers abord the skate, you are in for a special treat becasue you get to read a review writen by one of your very own. The first of it's kind as well! So read on...
The first four books in this series, along with the eighth one, are written by Michael A Stackpole, we join Rogue squadron in their battle against remnant empire forces. "Sleek, swift and deadly, they are the X-Wing fighters."
During these five books the Rogues embark on many different missions to help the new republic. We get to know new characters, such as Corran Horn and Mirax Terrik and are reunited with old ones such as Wedge.
One reason I particularly liked these books is because of all the new blood introduced. The X-Wing books aren't based on the main characters from the films as so many of the other books in the star wars universe are, they are different. That gives them their spark. Stackpole, in my opinion is probably also one of the best writers who have written for star wars, second only to Zahn.
The remaining books in this series are written by Aaron Allston. Leaving the Rogues for a while, to fend for themselves, Wedge takes Wes Janson as his second and together they make a new X-Wing unit. The Wraiths. It's a last chance for the cast of other units, for the rejects, for those who have "screwed up one time too many." They are a commando unit, only secondly X-Wing pilots. Their job: "sabotage, subversion, intrusion."

say it's "Extreemly Good"
"Those books are for those who want to delve really deeper
into the SW universe. Tying some loose ends, they link the rest of the
books. If you want to know what the big characters are doing, then see
elsewhere. Focusing on the stories of Wedge Antilles and his fellow
Alliance/New Republic starfighter pilots/freaks, they offer an interesting
viewpoint of the galaxy from the mindset of the soldiers ont the
frontlines. Lots of stuff being blown up (the motto of one of those squadrons
...), cool (and psychologically profound) heroes and villains, conquest
and treason and a big dose of funky humor (Yub, Yub !). A truly
different way to look at a ''galaxy, far, far away''..."
